Earning more credits through workplace experience
What is it?
A unique program that extends classroom learning into business, industry and the community. It allows students to apply two co-op credits towards their compulsory high school graduation requirements, with no limit on earning optional co-op credits.
Who is it for?
All students destined for the workplace, university, apprenticeship, or college.
Why take co-op?
Students have the opportunity to:
- Experience hands-on learning
- "Test-drive" career options
- See the relevance of their classroom learning
- Develop the essential skills and habits required in the workplace
- Gain valuable work experience to help build a resume for postsecondary programs and future employment
What types of placements are available?
- Your co-op teacher will find you a placement.
- The possibilities for co-op placements are endless.
- We have many placements in town and around Windsor/Essex County
How to apply
- Eligible students can apply for co-op by selecting it as an option at course selection time. Students must also complete a co-op application form and may be interviewed by the co-op teacher
