Tecumseh Vista Academy's Pink Day brought together the school community in a heartwarming display of unity and support for cancer awareness. Led and organized by Ms. Weissenboeck鈥檚 Leadership class this year, the funds raised were dedicated to two important causes: The Windsor Regional Cancer Center and the Fight Like Mason Foundation.
The annual chili cooking competition started the day off with the different subject departments competing against the others. The French Department鈥檚 taste bud-tingling entry emerged victorious.
An exhilarating pep rally brought the day to a close and school spirit reached an all-time high. Students engaged in various fun activities, including Table Surfing, where the football team displayed their agility and came out on top. In the Hungry Hungry Hippos game, it was the Grade 10 and 11 students who claimed victory. Musical chairs saw Finn Krause as the last one standing (sitting?), and the Finish the Lyric Karaoke competition ended with the Grade 12s leading the pack.
The competition to raise the most funds by grade level was fierce. Ms. Weissenboeck's homeroom took the top spot for the Grade 12s, amassing an impressive $2,240. Ms. Morosin's homeroom secured the win for the grade 11s with $870, while Ms. Austin's class achieved $160 for the grade 10s. The grade 9s were led by Ms. Barakat's homeroom, which raised $660 for the cause. Total money raised was $9,370.59.
After the school day, the support for cancer awareness continued with various after-school sports events. The football team faced Riverside in their annual Pink Out game, highlighting their commitment to the cause. Meanwhile, the Junior and Senior Boys volleyball teams took on Cardinal Carter, adding to the competitive edge of the day's activities.
Tecumseh Vista Academy's Pink Day was not only a day of fun and spirited competition but also a day of compassion and generosity, as the community came together to make a substantial contribution to support local cancer patients. The event showcased the power of unity and the determination to make a positive impact on the world.
