Math proficiency
To be proficient in math, you need to have all five elements of mathematical literacy. Each of the elements combine to reach the goal of being mathematically literate and no one element is of greater importance than the others.

Adaptive reasoning |
Adaptive reasoning includes the capacity for logical thought, reflection, explanation and justification. |
Productive disposition |
Productive disposition includes the inclination to see mathematics as useful and valuable. |
Procedural fluency |
Procedural fluency includes the understanding and using a variety of mathematical procedures. |
Strategic competence |
Strategic competence includes the ability to formulate, represent and solve mathematical problems using an effective strategy. |
