Joe Benforte, a math teacher from Walkerville Collegiate Institute, has won an Impact Award at 鈥檚 second annual Impact Award ceremony. The Impact Awards were created to celebrate math teachers鈥� dedication and effective use of research-based practices in their classrooms.
According to Mr. Benforte, 鈥淭he most rewarding thing about teaching is seeing the light turn on in a student, especially when they don鈥檛 realize it鈥檚 there. You see that potential just suddenly pop out and they鈥檙e excited where they maybe weren鈥檛 moments earlier.鈥�
Mr. Benforte is one of twenty-eight 2021-2022 recipients from across Canada. A panel of Knowledge Translation experts selected the winners after identifying examples of their outstanding work in the classroom and how particular research methods shone through in their instruction.
