The province-wide assessments are based directly on the provincial curriculum. They reinforce and assess the knowledge and skills students have been learning all year and give parents and guardians valuable information about the strengths and areas for improvement in students' learning.
How EQAO assessments support students, parents and guardians
Parents, guardians and educators can use this data, along with information on the student's performance in the classroom, to determine pathways to student success. In this way, parents and guardians can support teachers and schools in planning for their child's success in learning.
Annual parent and guardian bulletins
EQAO releases parent and guardian bulletins each year, outlining:
- The value of the assessments
- What is being tested
- Which students take the test
- When and where the tests are given
- How long the tests take
- How students can prepare
- How to access results
Our educators will provide you with these bulletins prior to your student taking an EQAO assessment.
